HCHS 56, Grinnell 55 (4 OT)-State Semifinal in 2000
Kyle Murtaugh rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns, the last of which came in the fourth overtime, to help lead the Cyclones to a win in the longest game in school history over the Tigers. Kyle Gross came up with a blocked PAT in the fourth extra session to end the game as Grinnell attempted to force a fifth overtime. Jeremy Schmitz rushed for two touchdowns and threw for 173 yards and two more TDs in the contest. Cameron Kiersch caught nine passes for 114 yards in the game and both scoring strikes, while Dominic Leinen rushed 54 yards to the house early in the fourth quarter.
